Tommy and the Christmas Coal
Just before Christmas, Tommy’s father loses his job. The family soon realizes they only have enough coal to heat their home until Christmas morning. Wanting to help, Tommy hatches a bold plan: if he can land himself on Santa’s naughty list, maybe he’ll receive coal—and save the day. There’s just one problem. Tommy has never been naughty before.
Although his plan begins with mischief, it quickly grows into something far more meaningful. Tommy doesn’t just chase coal. Instead, he brings colour, warmth, and hope to a town that had forgotten how to dream.
This was the first book I ever wrote, and it marked the beginning of my journey as a storyteller. In 2021, I had the chance to animate this story for community television.
